Roger G. Courtenay is an award-winning landscape architect with 27 years of experience working on regional to site-specific commissions for public and private clients. He has been with EDAW since 1981, is a principal and vice president, and leads the firm's design initiative. Roger's areas of specialization include campus planning and design; historic and cultural landscapes; botanical gardens and parks; cultural facilities; and streetscapes.
His involvement with urban site security design and planning has included numerous projects in and around downtown Washington, D.C. for the Architect of the Capitol, National Capital Planning Commission, General Services Administration, U.S. Department of State, Smithsonian Institution, and the Department of Defense. He is a frequent guest lecturer at regional and national conferences on this topic.
Roger holds a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada, and a Master of Landscape Architecture degree from Harvard University. He is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects and the American Association of Botanical Gardens and Arboreta.
